A serious EV brand with a site that undersold it. The speed number is the headline, but the lead number is the point — and the gap between them is where most site rebuilds go wrong.
IPLTech Electric was building serious electric vehicles. The website did not say so.
It was slow and dated — and for a considered, high-value purchase, that is not a cosmetic problem. A buyer evaluating an EV brand is implicitly evaluating whether the company is competent, funded and going to exist in five years. A site that takes too long to load and looks a generation old argues against all three, silently, before a single specification is read.
Underneath that, organic discovery was low. The brand was not being found by people researching the category, which meant the site's weaknesses were being shown mostly to people who already knew the name.
The obvious brief here is “make the site faster.” It is also the brief that would have wasted the budget.
A fast site that does not convert is simply a more efficient way to lose the same visitor. Speed removes a reason to leave; it does not supply a reason to enquire. Those are different jobs and they need to be scoped together, because retrofitting conversion onto a build that optimised only for performance usually means rebuilding twice.
So the rebuild was scoped for speed and conversion at the same time, with technical and content SEO running alongside rather than queued behind it, and social managed in parallel so the demand being created had somewhere competent to land.
2.4× faster load and a 96 Lighthouse score. That is the enabling layer — the site stopped losing people before it had spoken.
+180% organic traffic. Technical fixes plus content SEO moved the brand into the research conversation rather than only the navigational one.
3.1× lift in qualified enquiries. This is the number that matters, and note the word qualified. More traffic arriving at a page built to convert is what produces it; either half alone would have produced a much smaller figure.
As their marketing head put it: “Fabulous Media gave us a site and a search presence worthy of the brand.” The phrasing is telling — worthy of the brand. The product was already good. The digital presence was the thing understating it.
Speed and structure first, because everything downstream compounds or leaks depending on that foundation. There is no point publishing content onto a slow, badly structured site — you are paying to fill a bucket with a hole in it.
Content and technical SEO next, to move from being findable-by-name to being findable-by-need.
Conversion throughout, not at the end. The pages that receive the new traffic have to be built to do something with it on the day the traffic arrives.
This sequencing is unremarkable and it is the part most often got wrong — usually because speed is easy to sell, easy to measure, and produces a satisfying number that no one has to argue about.
If your product is better than your website, the website is costing you deals you never hear about. Nobody emails to say they left because the site felt dated.
Never buy a rebuild on performance metrics alone. Ask what the enquiry number is expected to do, and what in the build is supposed to move it. If nobody can answer, conversion is not actually in scope.
Run SEO alongside the build, not after it. Rebuilds are when URL structure, speed and markup are cheapest to get right — and most expensive to retrofit.
Lighthouse 96 is a diagnostic, not an achievement. It tells you the foundation is sound. It tells you nothing about whether anyone enquired.
How much faster did the IPLTech Electric site get?
2.4x faster load, with a Lighthouse score of 96. Alongside the rebuild, organic traffic rose 180% and qualified enquiries increased 3.1x — the speed improvement was the enabling layer rather than the outcome.
Does making a website faster increase leads on its own?
Rarely by itself. Speed removes a reason to leave; it does not supply a reason to enquire. In this project the lead growth came from scoping speed and conversion together, with technical and content SEO running alongside the rebuild rather than after it.
When is the right time to do SEO on a website rebuild?
During it. A rebuild is when URL structure, page speed and markup are cheapest to get right and most expensive to retrofit. Running SEO after launch usually means redoing decisions that were made without it.
